Justinian I, a Byzantine Emperor, was born in 483 in Tauresium in Illyria. He was born from a Slavonic peasant. Petrus Sabbatius was his original name, but he changed it to Justinian in honor of his uncle, Justin I. In 521 Justinian was appointed 'Count of the Domestics' (Schaff, Philip). Justinian married his wife, Theodora, in 525 (Odanvdv). He was crowed emperor the same year Justin I died (Schaff, Philip). Justinian did many feats such as he defeated the Nika revolt, created a law system, made a public works project, and rebuilt the Hagia Sophia. Sadly, in 565 Justinian died (Odanvdv).
